Vazhakkad, the land of cultural brilliance, educational brightness, and lively agricultural enthusiasm, is located near the banks of river chaliyar. Chaliyar is the boundary of vazhakkad and on opposite bank its mavoor. It has a fine space in history of kerala. The first madrasa system was implemented, famous as a center of scholars joining, were Darul Uloom Arabic college stands, were most populated high school in kerala stands, were all type of infrastructures are flourished.
At that time Edavannappara, a barren land with rocks. people doesn't like to live there. No infrastructure for a fine living, no merchants gathering and no cultural programs conducted. Then why Today Edavannappara become more developed than Vazhakkad when watching through a eye of infrastructural and place of meeting. Its something difficult to say why Vazhakkad lost its developing strata even everything comes in Vazhakkad. But center of market shifted to Edavannappara.
As discussion with seniors, we reach in a conclusion. The marketing materials were transported mainly through water and by head-load. Water transport was used for transportation of goods from vazhakkad to calicut and vice versa, to areecode and nilambur etc...; where as road transportation mainly used in getting goods to and from kondotty. Kondotty nercha was well known at that time and even before kondotty was a center of markets. The way used for this was too hard for transportation of vehicles and carts. So people submitted a frame of road project to government.
A road project was passed by kerala government, from vazhakkad to kondotty. Its work started and road work started, broadened. A fine road was forming through there which has much importance, since vazhakkad was developing in all its phases. But the road work stops while reaching the barren land in Edavannappara due to lack of fund. Even it gives a great hope to vazhakkad. They take head loads up to Edavannappara and from there by vehicles and carts. Slowly some small kit shops planted at that road end. Hotels come, load storage godowns come, slowly slowly more and more persons choose their marketing place there. thus there starts developing. So people of Vazhakkad requested chief minister CH to complete the road work that was stopped. But providing fund to a small work, vazhakkad to edavannappara , was not possible. But CH solves the problem by providing a road from Areecode to vazhakkad which meets the road kondotty-edavannappara. Thus the road creates a junction in Edavannappara, which creates a fine development for vazhakkad , where it creates more and more finer development to Edavannappara. Thus Edavannappara becomes a center linking vazhakkad, Areecode and kondotty which proves its importance.
